About 30,000 people are expected at Adelaide’s Morphettville racecourse on Saturday to see Black Caviar’s bid for a 20th consecutive victory, Premier Jay Weatherill says.
Mr Weatherill said the event was a great opportunity for South Australia to promote itself to the rest of the nation and the world.
“Black Caviar will bring a huge national and international spotlight to Adelaide,” the premier said on Monday.
“All eyes will be watching Adelaide and it is going to be a great day for our state and for racing in South Australia.”
To help the day go smoothly the state government has arranged free public transport for all racegoers.
The government has also established a cabinet committee to provide the South Australian Jockey Club with any assistance it needs.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us,” Mr Weatherill said.
